How to Choose the Right Carpet for Every Room in Your Home
October 9, 2026
If you’ve searched for a carpet fitter in Surrey, you’ll know there’s no shortage of choice. So why do so many homeowners, landlords and businesses across the county keep coming back to us?
A Family Run Business
It mostly comes down to how long we’ve been doing this, and how little has changed about the way we do it. We’ve been supplying and fitting carpets and vinyl flooring across Surrey for over 30 years, and we’re still a family-run business rather than a franchise or a call centre operation. When you ring us, you’re speaking to someone who actually knows the trade, and quite often the person who measures your room is the same person who ends up fitting it.
The home sample visit is a big part of this too. Rather than asking you to choose a carpet from a screen or a handful of swatches in a showroom, we bring a proper range of samples to your house. You get to see the colour against your own walls, in your own light, without guessing how it’ll actually look once it’s down. It’s a simple thing, but it’s stopped a lot of people from ending up with a floor that looked completely different once fitted.
30 Years Of Experience
We’ve also built up a fairly broad range of experience, which helps. We’re just as comfortable fitting a single bedroom carpet as we are handling a full church hall with stairs, landings and flooring built to cope with heavy footfall week after week. We’ve fitted LVT into shop entrance wells, re-carpeted staircases for churches, and taken on jobs well outside our usual patch when it’s made sense to. Domestic work keeps our attention to detail sharp, and commercial jobs keep us fast and reliable under pressure – doing both regularly keeps both standards up.
That range shows in the places we cover too. We’re out across Guildford, Epsom, Leatherhead, Woking, Weybridge, Esher, Cobham, Kingston upon Thames, Richmond, Wimbledon, Sutton and Reigate on a regular basis, along with plenty of the smaller towns and villages in between. Covering that much ground for over three decades means we’ve picked up a fair bit of local knowledge along the way too – the sort of thing that only comes from actually being in and out of people’s homes across the area, not just advertising in it.
Extensive Product Range
None of that counts for much without good products behind it, so we stick with manufacturers we trust rather than whoever happens to be cheapest that month. If you’ve already got a brand in mind, we’ll do what we can to track it down. If you haven’t, we’d rather talk through genuine options with you than push whatever’s sitting in the warehouse.
We’re also upfront about cost from the start. We don’t like guessing a price over the phone and landing you with something different once we’ve actually seen the room, so every job begins with a free estimate and a proper home visit. What we quote is based on your space, not an average, and we’d rather take the time to get that right than rush you into a decision.
That no-pressure approach tends to matter more than people expect. A lot of customers come to us after a rushed quote elsewhere left them uneasy, or after being pushed toward whatever a salesperson needed to shift that month. We’re not on commission for pushing a particular carpet range, so the advice you get during your visit is based on what actually suits your room and your budget, not what’s easiest for us to sell. It’s a small difference on paper, but it tends to be the thing customers mention most once the job’s done.
If you’d rather see it than take our word for it, our gallery has a good spread of recent work, and our testimonials page has feedback from people we’ve fitted for across the area. Got a specific question first? Our FAQ page covers most of what people ask before booking.
Lastly…
Ultimately, when you’re choosing who to trust with your floors, it’s worth asking how long a company’s actually been trading, whether you’ll see real samples in your own home, and what happens if something unexpected turns up once the old flooring’s lifted. We’ve got solid answers to all three – which is probably why so many people across Surrey Carpet Fitting’s service area keep coming back, or send their neighbours our way.
